Production Engineer II


Scope of Job: Knows and applies standard engineering concepts, practices, and procedures. Works under general supervision performing tasks that are varied and somewhat complex in nature. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals that require a considerable degree of evaluation, originality, latitude, and independent judgment.

Job Summary: Plans, designs, and implements production processes, ensures new product designs can be manufactured, and maintains the molding processes in production.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

1.         Provides day-to-day technical support for the molding processes in the plant.

2.         Addresses internal and external customer complaints, conducts investigations, develops root cause analysis, determines countermeasures, and documents using problem solving methods.

3.         Supports Program Management generated project macro-schedules with detailed engineering micro-schedules to ensure that all project milestones are tracked and completed on time.

4.         Supports mold trials prior to molds arriving at the company including interface with Tool Engineering and outside tool shops, including domestic and international travel to outside tool shops.

5.         Conducts initial mold trials to verify internal process and mold capabilities.

6.         Supports Manufacturing in the purchase, installation, and start-up of new equipment, as required.

7.         Identifies Value Engineering/Value Analysis (VE/VA) ideas and standard parts to be implemented into new product designs.

8.         Leads and/or participates in continuous improvement activities targeted to facilitate improvements in quality, productivity, and safety; and reductions in scrap and machine downtime.

9.         Documents the process on set-up sheet, and maintains project book with the proper documents.

10.       Develops and updates/improves check sheets for all production equipment for preventative maintenance and machine condition.

11.       Establishes and continually improves SOS procedures for processes, and provides training on the processes to molding personnel.

12.       Performs other duties as assigned.


1.         Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related discipline

2.         (DC Wilson, Paulson, or similar injection molding certification is preferred)

3.         2 to 4 years of related manufacturing experience

4.         (experience in multi-color molding and robotics for an automotive manufacturer is preferred)

5.         Strong knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:

a.         Analytical and problem solving skills

b.         Organizational and planning skills

c.         Computer skills in standard business software (including MS Office programs)

d.         Written and verbal communications and presentation skills

e.         Interpersonal skills to confidently interact with individuals at all levels of authority.
