Electrical Engineer

This position is responsible for research, development, design, qualification, troubleshooting and testing of electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks.  Must be able to apply electrical theory and related knowledge to test, troubleshoot and modify electrical control equipment, software and circuitry.  Must be able to provide technical support to the existing customer base in the form of phone support, remote connection and/or field visits.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Prepare project cost and work time estimates

·         Contribute to design team by applying knowledge of electrical and software design expertise

·         Draw or modify diagrams and write engineering specifications to clarify design details and functional criteria of production components

·         Evaluate engineering proposals, mechanical drawings and design comments for sound electrical engineering practice and conformance with established safety and design criteria and recommend approval or disapproval

·      Utilize AutoCAD as a drawing tool

·      Develop Bill of Materials for design projects

·      Troubleshoot and debug design projects

·      Interpret and use appropriate electrical codes for design

·      Develop PLC and HMI design projects

·         Analyze and interpret test information to resolve design-related problems.

·         Have a working knowledge of the following design standards:

o   AMS 2750D, IEC-1131, NEC, CE, CSA, NFPA, OSHA, UL

·         Modify, review and correct existing electrical engineering criteria to identify necessary revisions, deletions or amendments to outdated material

·         Work with customers and/or field service personnel to resolve technical issues

·         Support production floor during furnace start-up to provide troubleshooting of electrical systems and components

·         Provide technical assistance and resolution when problems are encountered before, during, and after furnace construction

·         Collaborate with electrical engineers, field service technicians and other personnel to identify, define, and solve design problems

 

Minimum Qualifications

·         Ability to read blue prints, wiring diagrams, schematics

·         Knowledge of Autocad as a drawing tool

·         Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment and computer hardware

·         Knowledge of practical application of engineering science and technology.  Ability to apply principles, techniques, procedures and equipment to the design and production of furnace and ancillary equipment

·         Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, schematics, component specifications and control logic

·         Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs and techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of furnace components and systems

 

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

 

Typical Educational Requirements:

·         AA/AS degree with 5-10+ years experience

·         BA/BS degree with 2-5+ years experience in Electrical Engineering
